The No Huddle Episode 12-08

The No Huddle Episode 12-08

Elliott Ford from NFL Review UK was on the show to help us preview the American Bowl in London.  We also discussed the announcement that there will be two games in London in 2013. Elliott and co-host Matt  actually haven’t posted a video this year, but promise to chronicle the American Bowl weekend.

Not as bad a week for BYES as last week. We have four (4) for week 8: Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Houston. Baltimore and Houston hurt. Likely any stars you have on Buffalo or Cincinnati can be replaced with little reduction in point totals.

QB Brady Quinn makes his second start in Kansas City. Opponent Oakland has given up the 9th most fantasy points to QBs, and the Chiefs are at home. However, that is one inconsistent team.

WR Jordy Nelson is out.

RBs Felix Jones and Ahmad Bradshaw will play even though both are nursing foot injuries.

With the NFL trade deadline approaching teams are asking Carolina about obtaining RB DaAngelo Williams. Depending where he lands, his value could go up. Jonathan Stewart could also see an increase in value as he would be the n umber 1 back for the Panthers. However, Mike Tolbert has 2 TDs and Stewart has none. Williams has scored 2, QB Cam Newton has rushed for 3.

Don’t forget to look at the NFL team stats page. Simply find the team your player is opposing in their category (rushing, passing) and see how that match-up looks against the other player you’re considering.

As always, double-check the official injury report at NFL.com 30 minutes prior to the start of the game your player is in.

The No Huddle Episode 12-07

Rocky LaPorte shared his fantasy football experience with us on the week’s show.  Rocky is a Chicago guy, who loves his Bears and has been playing fantasy football for about ten years.

This is the worst week for BYES with six (6) teams getting the week off. All other BYE weeks have only four (4) teams, at the most, taking a breather. BYES end after week 11.

Looks like RB Ahmad Bradshaw will play despite a sore foot, as will RB Adrian Peterson. Peterson is solid start, Bradshaw is more risky considering his foot and the match-up with the Redskins.

RB DeMarco Murray is out. If you haven’t already, grab Felix Jones.

QB Kevin Kolb is out.

TE Jimmy Graham is out. David Thomas will start in his place.

Here’s the link to that article from Bloomberg Businessweek that I mentioned on the podcast.

The No Huddle Episode 12-06

Josh Sneed was our guest on this week’s show. Been a rough year for Josh, but he’s confident his team can recover.

Your BYES for week 6: Carolina, Chicago, Jacksonville, New Orleans. Nothing you can’t handle, unless you have Maurice Jones Drew or Drew Brees. Next week is brutal for byes by the way.

TE Aaron Hernandez is expected to play.

TE Jermichael Finley is questionable.

WR Greg Jennings is out.

WR Pierre Garcon is questionable.

Looks like QB Robert Griffin III will play.

I would stay away from any Jets at this point. They are a mess, and it’s hard to tell who if anybody will emerge as a reliable fantasy starter.

Speaking of: if you need a good defensive match-up, grab the Colts D. They are likely on your league’s waiver wire.

More issues for New York teams. The Giants face a solid defense on the road in San Francisco.

The No Huddle Episode 12-05

Imagination Mover Smitty was on the show this week.

First off--- BYES: Dallas, Detroit, Oakland, and Tampa Bay. This should not hurt anyone too much, as all of these teams are having issues. The Colts and Steelers are back after a week off. This bodes well for the former, and is pretty good for the latter. Indianapolis, however, hosts Green Bay.

Smitty helped breakdown the situation in New Orleans, where fans like him are about ready to have a breakdown. A lot of talent there, so if you have a Saint or two, don’t panic. In fact, as Smitty points out, their suspect defense means the offense has to generate more numbers. Great for fantasy, worrisome for Saints fans.

Also, check your league’s tools. I just discovered a neat one in Yahoo! I have no idea how long it has been available, but you can see how players at certain positions have performed against a certain team. For example, if you have New England RB Danny Woodhead, who is playing against Denver this week, you can look and see how the running backs that have previously faced the Broncos have fared. Very handy indeed. It pays to poke around.

WR Danny Amendola is out.

We may have a committee in New York. The Giants will use both Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown at RB, and favor whoever is running better in a particular game.
